If you have trouble getting your boiled eggs to turn out right, try making them in an Instant Pot.
You will need an egg steamer insert for your Instant Pot. I bought mine several years ago and have found it to be a valuable addition to my kitchen.
We have chickens, so our eggs are fairly fresh which makes it difficult to boil and peel them without loosing half the egg. Cooking them in my Instant Pot has solved that problem.
Instructions: Place the insert in the Instant Pot and add the eggs. Add 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. (I use white vinegar, but any kind will work. This makes the eggs much easier to peel, and it doesn’t affect the taste of the eggs.)
Lock the lid and make sure the steam valve is set to “sealing.” Cook on manual low pressure for 4 minutes. Once the pressure cooking is complete, leave the Instant Pot alone for 5 minutes while the pressure releases naturally. After 5 minutes, turn the valve to quick release the rest of the pressure (if any). Open the lid carefully and remove the eggs to a bowl of ice water. I usually use a folded paper towel for this step because the eggs are still very hot.
Don’t skip the ice water step. This not only cools the eggs so that you can peel them, it also stops the cooking process.
You will love how well the boiled eggs peel using this method. They come out perfect every time!
