About a week before Christmas, I spent an afternoon baking cookies. I made 5 different kinds so that I could freeze some for my family to enjoy for Christmas and afterward.
I filled up my cookie jars then froze the rest in gallon-sized freezer bags.
I ended up with three gallons of cookies for the freezer, and those will last us for a while since I only take out a few at a time.
Baking homemade cookies does take some time but is a huge savings over store-bought cookies. They also taste so much better!
My husband loves oatmeal cookies, and oatmeal raisin are his favorite. These are so simple and inexpensive that I try to keep some in the freezer for him. He only eats a few at a time, so one batch of these lasts us for many weeks.
A delicious variation of oatmeal raisin cookies is oatmeal scotchies (pronounced “scotties”). They have butterscotch baking morsels instead of raisins. You can also add nuts if you like.
Here are printable versions of both oatmeal cookie recipes: Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Oatmeal Scotchies.
I also made Peanut Butter Blossoms. These are my daughter-in-law’s favorite and perfect for Christmas or any time.

My oldest son loves mint chocolate chip ice cream and says these Chocolate Mint Cookies taste like a cookie version of the ice cream. They are also a favorite any time.

Who doesn’t love M&M Cookies? These too are perfect not just for Christmas but for the entire year. They also freeze well.
