Festive Waldorf Salad

Although Waldorf Salad makes a great side dish at any time of year, I love to serve it during the Christmas season and use both red and green apples to give it a festive look. When choosing apples for this dish, be sure they are nice and firm. I wash the apples but I don’t peel them since I like the look of the salad with the red and green peeling. But you can peel them if you prefer them that way.

Start by cutting your apples into bite-sized pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

Add lemon juice to the apples. Be sure not to skip this step. It adds great flavor to the salad, and it keeps your apples from turning brown which keeps your salad looking pretty.

Add 1 cup of walnuts, 1 cup of golden raisins, and 1/2 cup of celery. Mix well.

Once you have mixed all the ingredients, stir in 2/3 cup of mayonnaise.

This salad is best if you mix it up and let it chill in the refrigerator about two hours before you plan to serve it.
